Peter Bridges has made a career of successfully placing senior executives, particularly in investment banking, private equity and turnaround consulting. Across decades, he has collaborated closely with clients to develop the strength of their management teams. He helps find people who are pacesetter professionals in their field to match clients’ cultures, industries and leadership specifications.

Prior to joining Townsend Search Group, Peter served as the Managing Director of Operations for Conway MacKenzie, a leader in turnaround consulting, litigation support and investment banking. He was responsible for corporate strategy, employment initiatives and day-to-day operations, and served as a member of the firm’s Management Committee.

Peter has deep appreciation for accounting, drawn to the logic of numbers and its process discipline. He gained his MBA and a Bachelors of Business Administration from Northwood University. His early career brought success in sales, but he eschewed a lifestyle of travel, preferring a career that would plant him and family with roots in one place. At that time, a search firm that he had personally engaged suggested a career in executive search.

“Being an active listener makes you look a lot smarter than anything you can say. The most important side of our work is gathering copious amounts of information that will help us size up the exact opportunity for a client. Evaluating candidates is a matter of understanding their ‘calling’ and why they made particular decisions along the way."

LET'S TALK.

We see executive search as far more than filling a role—to us, it is a highly personalized process producing profoundly impactful leaders that fulfill long-term goals, influence strategic plans and impact decision-making across the organization.

MORE ABOUT PETER’S JOURNEY.

Peter’s father has been the most influential person in his life. Grateful for the sacrifices his father made, Peter credits him with instilling work ethic and integrity beyond all else.

He enjoys learning and developing a mastery of his passions. Aviation is the newest. In 2005, he had earned his private pilot’s license and today is a commercial, multi-engine instrument-rated pilot. He flies the Cirrus SR20 and SR22, Diamond DA42 and DA62, and Pilatus PC12.

Passengers can have the jitters flying in smaller airplanes – even a well-appointed business aircraft. To allay worries, Peter shares knowledge about the aerodynamics of his flight maneuvers so that people aren’t fearful of the physical sensations they’re feeling during flight.

The challenges of flight and its demand for continuous learning make it a passion that never loses its luster for Peter. “It’s very structured; it’s very disciplined, yet you are always learning. Every flight is a different experience related to the plane, the airport, the approach and the infinite variables in the environment.”

STRANGE BUT TRUE.

Peter is so passionate for flying that he periodically moonlights as a pilot for hire, taking families and business people across the region. Chicago, Northern Michigan and Florida are frequent destinations but they can be more obscure — Wiscasset, Maine or Lansing, Illinois, for example.
