Andy Matles is a Director at Townsend Search Group, where he focuses on C-suite placements for middle market and lower middle market platforms nationwide. He partners closely with management teams to identify leadership and talent solutions that support growth, strengthen organizations, and align with the long-term needs of the business. Andy brings a relationship-driven, consultative approach to search and is recognized for thoughtful execution, strong communication, and an ability to understand the broader business context behind each engagement.

Andy’s professional background spans public accounting, corporate tax, and executive recruiting, giving him a well-rounded perspective on both the analytical and interpersonal elements that drive successful hiring outcomes. He began his career at Rehmann, where he developed a strong foundation in tax and client service within a professional advisory environment, serving organizations across several industries. He later joined Plastipak in a sales and property tax role, gaining first-hand exposure to the operational and financial complexities of a global manufacturing business.

Prior to joining Townsend Search Group, Andy spent four years as an executive recruiter focused on Accounting & Finance search, advising organizations and professionals through important hiring decisions and career moves. Across that time, he developed a strong ability to assess talent, build trusted relationships, and guide search processes with a consultative and solutions-oriented mindset.

Andy earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Northern Michigan University and is based in Metro Detroit. Outside of work, he enjoys boating, pickleball, board games, and hiking with his amazing wife and their black lab. He comes from a very large family, being the youngest of 10 children.
